What you will be doing:
- Be a positive role model and demonstrate attributes that allow children to feel safe, build resilience and work towards positive future outcomes
- Provide the day-to-day care of all children in the residential care setting and participate in appropriate recreational activities for and with the children
- Assist children to learn life skills in a planned and supportive way & focus on the child’s positive behaviours through praise and encouragement
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding the children’s information and history
- Ensure that the residential care site is clean and well maintained by undertaking general household tasks including shopping, cooking, and cleaning
- Lead the team and build a positive team culture, whilst ensuring a strong focus is placed on delivering quality services to children and young people
- Support the Case Manager with the planning, implementation, and management of strategies to support the needs of children
- Ensure all required documentation is completed by the team in a timely manner
- Plan and lead Team Meetings and complete shadow shifts with all new team members
- Delegate tasks within the residential care setting
- Complete shift work and in-home sleepovers as required
What you will bring:
- Flexibility across a 7 day/night roster, which can include shift work, periodic weekend, public holidays, night shifts & overnight sleepovers
- Experience in a similar senior position (desired but not essential)
- Have completed or be enrolled to commence a minimum Certificate 4 qualification in a relevant area (Child, Youth & Family Intervention/Disability/Mental Health/Community Services)
- Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation, including the ability to set and maintain consistent boundaries in a professional setting
- Ability to ensure attention to detail and time management with client documentation and shift reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office, email, and web-based applications.
- Blue Card for Working with Children & NDIS Worker Screening (or Yellow Card)
- Child Safety and Criminal History Screening – LCS2
- Driver’s licence
