We are currently looking for a Cultural Advisor to lead and drive cultural services for their organisation across QLD, the role will have flexibility to be based in either the Cairns or Ipswich office.

As an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, you are passionate about producing improved outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people.
Your responsibilities:
- Support teams, children and young people in the development and delivery of Cultural Support Plans for children and young people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
- Collaborate with Regional Managers and Case Managers to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child/young persons’ files contain information regarding how staff will support the cultural needs of the child/young person
- Provide guidance on how CYF services can formulate service delivery that respects and values the individual’s culture
- Build the capacity of teams to implement culturally sensitive, safe and responsive practice through advice and education provision as required
- Contribute to strengthening workforce cultural capability through sharing cultural advice, knowledge of communities and awareness of culturally significant processes and events
- Guide young people to remain connected to their culture and provide strong advocacy to ensure their voices are heard, developing a strong sense of connection and belonging
- Consult and work in partnership with children and young people, DCYJMA and community to identify needs and priorities
- Must be able to travel throughout QLD as required
- Experience in service delivery in a human service/youth services industry
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Comprehensive knowledge of Child Protection Act and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle
- Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to influence and negotiate to drive effective outcomes
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a professional, productive manner to a large and diverse number of people
- Drivers Licence
- Hold or be enrolled in and working towards Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or a relevant recognised qualification
- Eligibility to apply for Blue Card for Working with Children
- Eligibility to apply for Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2)
