If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as a Behaviour Support Practitioner across the Brisbane area.

About the Opportunity:
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner with SCSS you will deliver evidence-based clinical guidance and play a crucial role in improving the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities. We work closely with complex clients of all ages, all diagnoses, and all behaviours to foster supportive environments which promote personal growth with a focus on restrictive practice reduction.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing both interim and comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support Plans, which may include the use of restrictive practices for people with complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Conducting Functional Behavioural Assessments and formulation of person-centered and holistic strategies tailored to the unique needs of each individual, with a focus on enhancing their quality of life.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders and allied health professionals to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to support and care.
  • Applying critical thinking skills to address challenging behaviours and environments effectively.
  • Coaching and supporting stakeholders, including family and support teams to empower them in implementing behaviour support strategies.

What you need:
  • Current suitability – confirmed by NDIS Quality and Safeguard Commission - as a proficient practitioner or above.
  • Have a minimum of 12 months experience in providing positive behaviour support with challenging behaviour.
  • Hold a current driver's license.
  • Hold a current working with children's check, NDIS worker screening check, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills and problem-solving in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to person-centered approaches and advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage a varied caseload.
  • Proactive attitude, motivated by the opportunity to test and learn from new ideas.
Qualifications and Experience:

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
  • Be registered as an NDIS proficient practitioner or above.
  • A qualification in allied health, social or behavioural science (or working towards).
  • Minimum 12 months experience working with individuals with high complex behaviours.
  • An understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, principles, methodologies, and NDIS and DSQ Legislations.
