Welcome Andrea Senior - GM Child Protection

Name: Andrea Senior

Position: General Manager Child Protection

Previous roles/experience: More than 16 years of experience in supporting vulnerable children and families in front-line and senior roles across Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania with both large and small NGOs. Andrea joins us most recently from her role as State Director and Regional Director of Child, Youth and Families with Life Without Barriers.

Philosophy: Andrea works from a trauma-informed practice, always putting children first. She is particularly passionate about empowering families to stay connected.

Hobbies/Likes: In her spare time, Andrea is studying full-time for an MBA and is kept busy with her nine-year-old son and husband, who love adventure-filled holidays. Andrea loves the gym and particularly loves RMP and Spin classes.

Short-term goals in this role: Meeting all of the teams both in Child Protection as well as all of our wonderful Business Units. Filling gaps and vacancies in key leadership roles. Perfecting the responsibilities and functions of ‘On Call’.

Long-term goals in this role: Continuing the journey to achieving an exceptional standard of performance and service delivery, confirming SCSS as a provider of choice in Child Protection in all regions around Qld (and beyond).

What attracted you to this role: The culture and values of SCSS was evident to me as soon as I spoke with our CEO Cheryl in my interview. I knew that this was an organisation that I would be proud to be a part of. I truly look forward to being part of an organisation that is committed to providing 'Purpose, Belonging and Security' to the most vulnerable young people in our community. I know the possibilities and I know that SCSS can achieve amazing outcomes for these young people.
